Board votes to change sub-group size
The State Board of Education voted (7-0) at its December 13 meeting
to ask the U.S. Department of Education to modify Michigan’s
NCLB Accountability Workbook. The modification most watched by
MASA members was the request to change our State’s designation
of sub-group or “n” size. The accepted a proposal
to revise Michigan’s minimum group size from a thirty (30)
to a thirty-plus-10% of the total of number of students tested,
with a cap of 150 on the minimum group size for very large schools.

Board approves increased high school graduation requirements
At its December 13. 2005 meeting, the Michigan State Board of
Education voted to approve Mike Flanagan’s recommendations
for a mandated high school curriculum. The State Board's requirements
mirror those presented in November by Flanagan, with the addition
of the two credits of world languages, and the expectation that
technology, including assistive technology devices and services,
will be infused in the delivery of the new requirements. …more.
