School Aid Fund
Leadership in the House and Senate has reportedly agreed to put together a six-member bi-cameral, bi-partisan panel to deal with the budget challenges. This is not a time to sit back and wait to see what happens. Our voice needs to be heard.

Fund Equity Article
An article by Dawson Bell was published this week in the Detroit Free Press regarding the high fund balances that some districts had; inferring that districts wouldn’t be hurt by the impending cuts to this year’s funding. The article includes a report generated by the House Fiscal Agency using mid 2006 dollar figures.

K-12 Appropriations Testimony
The K-12 Appropriations Subcommittee concluded testimony this week on potential cuts to the School Aid Fund and consolidation efforts. Next week they will begin hearing testimony on the topics of Pupil Transportation and School Equity. The meeting is scheduled at 9:00am on Wednesday, in room 426 of the Capitol.
