Dr.
Les Carteris a well-known
psychotherapist and author with years of experience in the
counseling profession. Upon completing his doctoral requirements,
he joined Minirth Clinic in Texas and has developed a reputation
as one of Dallas/Ft. Worth's most trusted counselors in his
25 years on staff. He has been a featured member of the clinic's
nationwide radio call-in talk show and has participated in
over 1500 radio and 500 television broadcasts. He has conducted
seminars across America, discussing how psychological and
spiritual matters intersect.
Dr.
Carter is a best selling author of 20 books, including The
Anger Trap, The Anger Workbook, and The Freedom From Depression
Workbook. Through the years, he has conducted the popular
Anger Workshop and has become known as a specialist in anger
management and conflict resolution. He speaks clearly about
the why's of emotional and relational struggles and is pragmatic
in his approach to problem solving.
Dr. Brian McNulty has
a Ph.D. in Special Education Administration and Public Administration.
He is currently Vice-President of Field Services at McREL
(Mid-continent Research for Education and Learning), responsible
for coordinating all of McREL’s consulting, training,
and technical assistance in the region, nationally, and abroad;
and providing leadership in developing new programs and services
which serve to implement the results of McREL’s applied
research and development. He has over 30 years experience
in education, with a focus on leadership, special education
and compensatory services in K 12, state departments of education,
and school settings. Prior to joining McREL, Dr. McNulty served
as Executive Director of Educational Services, Adams County
School District 14, Commerce City, Colorado. In this position
he was responsible for the leadership, administration, supervision
and direction of staff, programs, and resources of the Division
of Educational Services. He is a former Assistant Commissioner
of Education at the Colorado Department of Education. Dr.
McNulty’s areas of expertise include leadership development,
school effectiveness and improvement, early childhood education,
and special education. He has published and lectured extensively
in these areas.
Dr.
Billy Hawkins became the 20th
President of Texas College on December 1, 2000. He is a native
of Kent, Ohio. He attended the Kent Public Schools and graduated
from Roosevelt High School. After graduation he enrolled at
Ferris State University where he completed his first degree,
a Bachelor of Science degree in Teacher Education, a Master
of Arts degree in Education Administration from Central Michigan
University, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from Michigan
State University in Education Administration and completed
the Harvard Seminar for New Presidents.Dr.
Hawkins is an author of two books, “Educating All
Students (A Pathway to Success)”, and “Reaching
for the Stars.”
As we view the life of Dr. Hawkins as a real miracle, he has
worked miracles at Texas College by: building an enrollment
from 281 to 1,100 in two and one half years; getting the College
reaccredited in December 2001 - after ten long years; getting
the College reinstated to UNCF, which was the very first time
this has happened; implementing new programs and new constructions;
expanding curriculum and restarting football after forty years;
and last but not least - stabilizing finances. Dr. Hawkins
was featured on the ABC Evening News with Peter Jennings on
March 2, 2001 on the nation’s special education system.
He was featured in the U.S. News and World Report magazine,
special edition, December 13, 1993, on the nation’s
special education system. He is the recipient of numerous
honors and awards. He is recognized for his expertise in the
education of our nation’s young people.
Dr. Hawkins has testified before committees of the U.S. Congress.
In January 1999, he received appointment as a member of the
Southside Virginia Business and Education Commission by Mr.
James S. Gilmore, III, former Governor of Virginia. In August
2002, Dr. Hawkins was appointed by Secretary Ronald Paige
of the United States Department of Education to serve on the
Historically Black Colleges and Universities Capital Financing
Advisory Board to advise Congress regarding program progress
for implementing construction financing on HBCU campuses.
He has held appointments on numerous boards.
