tools for success
MASA is
part of the K-16 Coalition, which is working together to ensure
schools receive regular and reliable funding increases that
keep up with inflation. At the same time, MASA is continuing
its commitment to find ways to contain the skyrocketing costs
of providing health care and retirement benefits to its valued
employees.
In the
closing months of 2005, the Coalition, including many MASA
members, successfully collected enough voter signatures to
put this proposal on the ballot in 2006. But first, we are
urging the legislature to act. In January, the K-16 Coalition
will launch a grassroots lobbying effort to compel the Legislature
to act on a reasonable funding proposal. We urge you to participate
with the entire K-16 community by leading the teams from your
district in grassroots lobbying efforts. Let’s all do
our part for school funding.
Communicate
about school funding
At the
same time, we encourage you to communicate effectively with
parents, taxpayers and your local media about the challenges
funding cuts have created. Let them see and understand the
impact education funding cuts are having on your community.
