On
Tuesday, June 27, the National Kids Count Data Book, made possible by
the Annie E. Casey Foundation, was released. According to the report,
the number of children in Michigan living in poverty has risen sharply
from 2000-2004. In 2004, about 18% of children in Michigan lived in poverty
(same as the national average), up from 14% in 2000. The Kids Count State
Level Data Online allows you to generate custom graphs, maps, ranked
lists, and state-by-state profiles; or, download the entire data set as
delimited text files. You can also order
a free data book online.
