MAISA is actively
pursuing a number of statewide projects in response to the MAISA Executive
Board’s summer
planning session.
On
September 6, 2006 50 MAISA members met on site and by video hook up
to discuss and consider a proposal from Superintendent Mike Flanagan
to create more formal partnerships between MAISA and the Michigan Department
of Education. The goal of those partnerships would be to build greater
capacity to serve Michigan school districts and the children they serve.
Work
continues on a pilot project to develop a voluntary accreditation process
for Michigan ISD/RESAs. The process of accreditation is being developed
in partnership with Michigan NCA. Six ISD/RESAs have committed to participate
in this pilot project and are beginning work to implement their self
assessments in anticipation of a accreditation team reviewing their
data later this school year.
