SET SEG has recently taken steps to equip our subscribers with the tools to become better health care consumers. Many Michigan school districts have enrolled their employees in the cost-effective Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) Flexible Blue 2 plan and Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) offered by SET. Because the Flexible Blue 2 plan subscribers can benefit by purchasing their health care prudently, the need for HSA and HRA education has never been stronger. In response, SET has developed the “How to Use Your Health Care Wisely” subscriber education program.

SET empowers HSA and HRA subscribers
The “How to Use Your Health Care Wisely” workshops will be conducted on-site at member school districts. The goal is to provide our subscribers with the information necessary to build their HSAs and manage their HRAs. The workshop is available free of charge to all SET members with employees enrolled in Flexible Blue 2 plans. SET Operations Manager Brian Flowerday will facilitate the interactive trainings, and answer questions. Subscribers who attend the workshop will receive the following program supplements:

• Workshop participant manual with an HSA balance sheet;
• “HSA Usage Tips” guide that offers specific suggestions for reducing health care costs and building HSA funds; and a
• Pedometer to encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Districts that participate in the Flexible Blue 2 plan also will receive complimentary copies of posters promoting tips for saving money on health care expenses.
