Pool's risk-management seminars are back by popular demand!
Due to the popularity of our fall seminars, the MASB - SEG Property/Casualty Pool is again partnering with McGrath Trainings Systems to offer the seminar Document, Discipline, Dismiss: Avoid Wrongful Termination. During the training, supervisory staff will learn strategies to proactively and constructively address employee performance issues. This seminar is a value-added service of the Pool and is free for employees of our member districts and individuals who are members of the Michigan Association of School Personnel Administrators or the Michigan Negotiators Association. Those who wish to receive 0.5 State Board Continuing Education Units for attending this program must pay a $15 processing fee to SET SEG . Previous participants are welcome to repeat training and should consider sending additional employees to the program!
Seminar Dates For the convenience of members, training seminars will be held in five locations throughout Lower Michigan . Presentations will begin at 9 a.m. Eastern time and conclude at 4 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Comprehensive workbooks will also be available only for those who attend the seminar. Dates and locations are:
Feb. 5: Wexford-Missaukee ISD, Cadillac
Feb. 6: Lewis-Cass ISD, Cassopolis
Feb. 7: Bay-Arenac ISD, Bay City
Feb. 27: Oakland Schools , Pontiac
Feb. 28: Northwestern Michigan College , Traverse City
Risk-Management Training
The seminars will offer valuable risk-management training that includes:
Preventing wrongful discharge lawsuits and negative employment atmospheres;
Addressing employee performance issues effectively and fairly;
Creating necessary documentation to support termination decisions;
Administering appropriate disciplinary action; and
Understanding strategies for handling performance- related conversations.
