This event, jointly sponsored by Michigan State University , the University of Michigan and Wayne State University , will feature presentations from leading research economists Charles Ballard, MSU professor of economics, and Tim othy Bartik, senior economist at the W.E. UpJohn Institute for Employment Research. Other experts will include economic professors Allen Goodman, Wayne State University, and Leslie Papke, Michigan State University, as well as Louis Glazer, president of Michigan Future, Inc., Phil Power, chairman, president and director of the Center for Michigan, Michigan Superintendent of Public Instruction Michael Flanagan and several other policymakers and experts.

Input from symposium attendees will be actively solicited in this search for consensus on strategies to enhance Michigan ’s prosperity. Kenneth Burnley, senior resident fellow at University of Michigan and former CEO of the Detroit Public Schools, will lead a discussion of follow-up strategies to inform public opinion and policy.
