Benefits for Life

MASA and MASB members are now eligible to participate in a successful employee benefit program. Benefits for Life, currently given a 97 percent satisfaction rate by State of Michigan employees. Is now offered at no cost to school districts.

The Benefits for Life program gives public schools employees the opportunity to apply for coverage in key benefit areas and continue the coverage if they change jobs or retire.

It doesn’t replace any of the benefits employees currently have, but offers an additional layer of financial protection with premiums payable through the convenience of payroll deduction. The new voluntary benefit plans include:

  • Group Automobile and Home Insurance
  • Accident Insurance
  • Legal Plans
  • Disability Income Insurance

The State of Michigan obtained favorable pricing and underwriting guidelines not available to employees and their family members individually, and this same pricing is now available to all Michigan public school employees.
