Summer Leadership Camp scholarships will be awarded by SET SEG Educational Foundation

SET SEG Educational FoundationThe SET SEG Educational Foundation is now accepting applications for scholarships that will help students attend the 2009 Michigan Association of Student Councils/Michigan Association of Honor Societies (MASC/MAHS) Summer Leadership Camp at Albion College. The Foundation will award $6,000 in scholarship funds to Michigan public high schools, up to a maximum of $1,250 per school and $400 per student.

The MASC/MAHS Summer Leadership Camp enables students from public schools throughout Michigan to participate in interactive, experiential activities. The Camp’s curriculum addresses leadership components such as communication;organizational and managerial skills; service and citizenship; group processes; and goal setting. Equipping students with these valuable skills will aid them in their academic pursuits and future endeavors, while helping them become confident leaders.

Scholarship application materials were mailed to school board presidents and high school principals at all Michigan public school districts in early February. Superintendents were notified of the scholarship program via e-mail. Application materials also are available online by visiting the Web site: www.setseg.org, and selecting Foundation, Scholarship Application. The deadline for applications to be submitted online or postmarked is Friday, April 10. Winning high schools will be presented with a check from the Foundation in May, during the districts’ Board of Education meetings. Recipients of the 2008 scholarships were:

  • Brandon High School, Brandon School District;
  • Burt Township School, Burt Township Schools;
  • Clintondale High School, Clintondale Community Schools;
  • Fraser High School, Fraser Public Schools;
  • Garber High School, Essexville-Hampton Public Schools;
  • Manton High School, Manton Consolidated Schools; and
