Longtime Mattawan Consolidated School Superintendent Jim Weeldreyer, center, was caught off-guard when Ken Mohney, Mattawan High School Director of Student Activities, presented Weeldreyer with the school's "True Blue Award" for, among other things, Weeldreyer's 31 years in the announcer's seat at the high school basketball games. Weeldreyer, who has missed only a few games during his tenure behind the bench, announced his final game on Tuesday night and plans to retire from the school in June.
