Michigan Teaching for Learning Institute: Igniting the Sparks of Genius

August 18, 19, and 20, 2009
Lansing Convention Center

This three day institute will welcome educators from across the state, across levels, and across areas of expertise to collaborate and engage in meaningful learning. The morning of August 18 will feature a key note presentation by Robert and Michele Root-Bernstein, authors of the book, Sparks of Genius.

A collaborative effort of the Office of School Improvement, the 2009 Michigan Teaching For Learning Institute is designed to accelerate the achievement of all students by examining the beliefs and practices of educators.

Participants will study comprehensive sets of data and apply research on current instructional practice by exploring strategies that influence teaching and learning. Schools are encouraged to bring a team to the institute to promote a diverse learning experience.

Registration is now being accepted by Michigan Institute for Educational Management (MIEM) at http://www.gomiem.org/.
