17TH Annual American Institute of Architects of Michigan This conference is for School Administrators, Business Officials, Board Members, Facility Directors and other interested professionals that wish to learn more about the latest trends in planning, financing, renovating and constructing educational facilities. This conference is co-sponsored by MASA, MASB, MSBO, Council of Educational Facility Planners, and the Michigan Department of Treasury. Michael Flanagan, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, will be the keynote speaker on Thursday morning. He will focus on the impact of bond issues on the local economy of Michigan school districts. Gary Olson, Director of the Senate Fiscal Agency, will provide an update on the State’s financial situation and its impact on public schools. Another special feature will be a presentation by Steelcase of the research and design of their “Learn Lab.” The presenters will show how it can change the classroom of the future to improve student teamwork and student engagement in the learning process. Participants will have the opportunity to experience and use this unique learning environment during the conference.
