The Ohio State University and the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio are sponsoring the National Academy for Superintendents.  The dates this year are July 13, 14, 15, 2010.  Please mark your calendar now!   On Tuesday, July 13, the conference begins with a reception at 5:30 pm followed by the keynote speaker.  The conference presentations are on July 14 and July 15 beginning at 8:00 am through 4:00 pm each day.  A continental breakfast and lunch is provided.

The theme of this year’s program is “Leadership and Schools of the Future: An examination of how research, technologies and demographics are impacting instruction, planning and governance.”   We seek to examine these topics as potential key “drivers” of our schools that have potential for great distraction or good. Specifically, we hope the Academy will provide insights in how to harness and adapt to these emerging ”drivers” in ways that best prepare young people, our stakeholders and colleagues for an uncertain future.

In recognition of the team concept, I am extremely pleased that The Ohio State University and Educational Service Center are again extending to each superintendent the opportunity of bringing a second administrator to the Academy at a reduced registration fee.  This feature has proved to be very popular.  The registration fee for the superintendent is $1400.00 and for the second registration, $1000.00.  Another unique feature of the National Academy is the opportunity afforded by the $1400.00 registration fee for a participant to earn two-quarter hours of academic credit.

The application form should be returned at your earliest convenience, or you can register online, http://ehe.osu.edu/epl/nas.  Registrations are capped at 45 to guarantee maximum opportunity for participation and to maintain a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the Academy.

The Academy will be held at the Blackwell Inn on The Ohio State University campus. Participants are responsible for the cost of dinner, their hotel accommodations, and travel.  A special rate of $124/night, plus tax and valet parking, has been established for those who register before June 18, 2010.  Please make reservations by calling toll free (866) 247-4003.  To register online visit www.theblackwell.com and use the group code “super0710” for your discount.
