Fall Conference on the horizon

 

Summer has arrived full force and it is our hope that even though we here at MASA know that things rarely slow down for all of you, that you each have an opportunity to refresh, recharge, and reignite for the 2010-2011 school year. Our MASA Conference Planning Committee and staff continue to work on pulling our upcoming conference together. We are very excited about how it is shaping up. In fact, as of now, we have over 125 registered with 50 plus exhibit booth reserved. We are also preparing for a larger than usual New Superintendents Preconference.

As you know, our conference theme for this year is District Leaders 2.0-Integrated Technology-Making It Happen! Discovery Education, a major sponsor this year, is stepping up big time to support our event by providing two internationally renowned speakers.

  • Hall DavidsonHall Davidson, the Director of the Discovery Educator Network will open our conference with a presentation titled Taking Leadership Into the Digital Age: Linking Engagement, Assessment and Achievement. Hall was introduced to our Courageous Journey™  participants at the end of June as he webcast an introduction to the Discovery Educatior Network (DEN).

  • Steve DemboSteve Dembo the Discovery Education’s Online Community Manager will do our Friday keynote presentation on Learning to Speak Native: How Education is being transformed in 140 Characters or Less. Steve will be working with MASA over the next few months to help establish a Superintendents’ DEN.

State Superintendent Mike Flanagan will open up our general session on Thursday. Michigan School Breakfast Challenge winners will  be announced on Thursday as well.  Brad Biladeau will also give his always timely and well received Legislative Update.
